Curriculum Vitae

Research Interests

I study the kinematics, microphysics, electrification, and dynamics of
severe convection with a focus on supercell thunderstorms.

Ongoing Projects

I am currently studying the thermodynamic and kinematic characteristics
of microbursts within the hook echo region of simulated supercells
and how they influence tornadogenesis. This is being done with a
very sophisticated microphysics scheme developed by Jerry Straka and
myself. We are currently writing several articles describing the new
scheme and its features.

I also continue working on simulating the kinematic, dynamic, and
thermodynamic changes that occur in boundary-crossing supercell
thunderstorms. This continues earlier research in understanding
cloud-to-ground lightning and thunderstorm charge structure for storms
that suddenly encounter environments with larger CAPE, low-level shear,
and boundary-layer mixing ratio.
