about Atmospheric Sciences

In the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, we're actively engaged in advancing research and teaching about the earth's atmosphere, and its interaction with other aspects of the earth system, life, and society. We are actively engaged with colleagues within the School of Earth, Society, and Environment, other faculty on campus, and collaborators across the country and across the world. As one of the top departments in atmospheric sciences in the world, our faculty receive funding from external and internal sources to support extensive and diverse research programs. We have a internationally-renown graduate program that prepares students for employment in academic, government, and private industries. We also have a new undergraduate program that is designed to give students the skills they need for both private and public industry, or continued study in our or any graduate program.
